"For the Message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God"

What's Up???Ok, so I was going to talk about Spring being in the air but when I left the house this morning it was 40 degrees. Right now it is 10:26 and still cold outside. So cold that this light jacket I am wearing isn't doing much good. Oh well, I need to quit complaining and understand that this cold snap is a gift from God. Ok, as we finish up our lesson on Sex and Dating there were a couple of points that I want to recap, so follow along... Week 1: The topic was on boundaries. Instead of being able to put down a line and saying don't cross we learned that we have focus and God and become a total "sell out" to him before we get in a relationship with others. Mark 12:28-31 tells us to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, soul, mind, and strength. Think about it...if we give God every part of our heart, every part of our mind, and every part of our physical strength...can we ever go wrong? Week 2: We asked the question "Why do you date"? We learned that the other person you are dating should not complete you. When you center your life around your boyfriend or girlfriend and you determine how you feel based on them...then they have become an idol and that is a violation of the first commandment. We also learned that under no circumstances are we to be dating non-Christians. You don't have the power to change a person and if you date them believing that you will save them through your relationship you are believing a lie!!! Week 3: Finally last week we learned about issues that guys face and we spent a lot of time on the issue of pornography. Porn is an addiction that will grab hold and ruin your life. If you are trying to live for God then you must get rid of any sexual sin, including porn, in your life. Some good ways of doing that include getting help from Christian friends, pastors, or dads. Don't try and do it yourself, you will almost never win. Week 4: You will have to wait until next wed. -Matt ps. I am keeping the see you at the pole banner down there because I think it looks cool. Just ignore the date...I know it's old!
