"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the
spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled
away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the
Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in
clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the
women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why
do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen.
Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: The Son
of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the
third day be raised again.” Luke 24:1-7 NIV
The Easter Sunday celebration of the resurrection is the central theme of Christian worship.
Jesus of Nazareth lived a sinless life. He died on a Roman cross for the sins
of the world. He rose from the dead on the third day. He appeared to his
disciples at different times for 40 days. He ascended to heaven where he is
seated at the right hand of God, the Father. Ten days after he ascended he sent
God, the Holy Spirit, to fill and empower believers in Christ to accomplish the
works of God to which Jesus had appointed them.
Currently Jesus is interceding for us to the Father. A day is coming when he will return in
power and glory as the King of kings and Lord of lords. Then he will establish
an everlasting kingdom on the new heaven and new earth.
You can become a follower of Jesus by admitting to God that you are a sinner, telling God that
you believe in Jesus, that he is who he says he is, and by committing yourself
to read the Bible, pray, and find a Bible teaching church where you will become
an active member. A public confession of your faith in Christ is next, followed
by water baptism. May the Lord grant you the grace of faith and obedience.
